Camp Maranatha Year Four camp to Maranatha was the greatest experience in my life so far. Firstly, we did bush craft. We got to make damper and towards the end of the session he made us some lemon myrtle tea to eat with our golden syrup covered damper. Yum! Going down to team games was so much fun. We had 3 unbelievable team building games where we needed to help each other to succeed. It was a lot of fun. The first game that we did was dodge ball. Then we had a game called toggle war, this was followed by a third game called scissors, paper, rock which was a lot of fun when you are playing with over 20 people. The food was delicious. For dinner on the first night we had roast beef, roast potatoes, some vegetables and delicious gravy spread over the top. This was followed by a night of fun games with lots of dancing, then a movie and eventually we went to sleep. On the second day, we had an activity called possum pull. I went up in the sky like a soaring eagle. We were sent up into the sky on a harness that was pulled by a group of donkeys who were also in harnesses. They weren’t really donkeys, they were the other kids from our group. Low ropes were a lot of fun! I felt like a frozen pig at one stage along the course. It was very scary at some parts. On the last 2 ropes I ran along as fast as I could to get to the end. Sophie, cheered me on at rocket ball which was very exciting as well. I was the first one to complete a home run. I would recommend the Year 4 camp to all of the Junior School when they become Year 4 students at Rochedale. It was the best experience ever! |

Our Wonderful Camping Trip to Maranatha
On the 26.4.12 all the rade 4’s went on a camp for the night at Maranatha Recreation Camp. We went on the bus at 8:30 a.m. and it took about an hour and a half to get there. It was a long trip but it was worth it. When we got there we were introduced to our camp instructors and the cooks. Then it was off to our cabins. I loved all the activities, I especially liked the low ropes where we used a flying fox and walked along ropes and a bridge. During the activities we were able to display all of Rochedale State School’s Six Values. We got along so well. The cooks prepared our food extremely well. I think the sausages at breakfast were cooked splendidly. I adored Maranatha! It was so friendly and warm. I will always cherish and treasure my memories for years to come. |

Camp Reflection I think I met my camp expectations because I got what I wanted. It was great fun because we did NOT have to wash the dishes and we got lots of free time plus great games such as possum pull. This is when you go very high in the tree tops. I achieved my goals by sleeping in another bed but the worst bit about that was that the beds squeaked if you turned. My other goal was to be not afraid of heights. I did achieve it by thinking I am 20cm high and the last goal was to try new foods. However there were no new foods for me to try. I enjoyed the things I most looked forward to. The things I was most looking forward to were Possum Pull and Low Ropes. They were the best games I have ever played. The things I learnt at camp are how to make damper and to not be very afraid of heights. I Loved Camp!!! |

Camp I had the best time at year 4 camp. My favourite activities were, Possum Pull and Low Ropes. The reason I liked those activities best is mostly because they were the most daring. You go really high on Possum Pull, so it is a little bit scary. I thought low ropes was so much fun. The flying fox part of the course was pretty scary when you had to cling onto the tree, because I nearly fell backwards. It was also very scary to think that if you didn’t listen properly you could fall into the lake below. Watching the movie of “The chipmunks- The Squeakle” at night was fun, even though I had already seen it. I had a great time at camp, it was a good experience and I hope to go on many more school camps! |
