COMPUTER SUPPORT FORM:
 
Please fill in the form below to let me know what support you require for your computers. If you need other items like mice or keyboards you can also indicate that on the form and I will obtain them for you as well. Software should only be purchased that meets the needs of a year level rather than an individual class and site licences will be needed to serve more than one computer. These can be very expensive so please discuss this with your colleagues before ordering. Also check the library for software that we already have first. Please remember that ink for printers is kept in the Office with Belinda Papa.

Library Check to see why 3 new computers are not online and teachers can't find Pokemon Teachers need to check that power is going to switch as kids kick out leads. If Pokémon shortcut is gone need to access from My Computer using mapped drive. Can create new shortcut on desktop by right clicking and creating shortcut on desktop.

Library Install KidPix on network and install on library computers On Pokemon, find the "KidPixNetwork" Folder. In that folder is a file called "WorkStation Installer". Double click to run. Let it install to C; drive on the workstation but when it asks for location of Server, click on "Browse" and go to Pokemon and click on the "KidPixNetwork" Folder. Follow the prompts to complete installation.

Year 6L IP conflict with another computer Changed IP address to one not used already.

Year 4K Computer frozen and new mouse needed Reset computer, started fine. New mouse installed.
Library 2 mice not working One was frozen, replaced mouse. Computer near window's mouse needs to be removed and reinserted as the computer plays up occasionally.
Web pages Do web pages for Imagination Show, Year 3 Science, Prep and Maths Challenge All done.

Office Virus on Admin computer Updated antivirus, researched type, rescanned computer, all OK
Year 6A Children couldn't open Word files in Office 2007 from flash drive on to school computers Opened students' files and converted them to 2003. Showed them how to save as 2003 in Word 2007.
NOTE: Teachers please advise students to save files as Office 2003 if they are using Office 2007 at home. I will not be installing 2007 on school computers as when MOE comes it will only have Office 2003.
Year 5R New cable for laptop Installed new 20m network lead, works on Internet fine now
Year 7B/7L Office 2007 No tool in 2007 to scan straight into Word 2007, Form toolbar not present either so reports can't be unlocked to type in if you use 2007. Advised to use 2003.
Deputy Principal New laser printer needs to be installed Done

Year 4C Printer not registering Reinstalled printer and shared with other computers.
Year 4K Replace hard drive. Hard drive brought by suppliers, wrong size, replacing complete machine.
Year 6W Set up new computer Installed and printer installed, checked out old one, faulty m/board.
Year 6/7B Printer not working, computer not working USB Leads missing from printers, ram needed reseating in computer, upgraded ram to 512Mb in 2 computers.
Library Investigate upgrading ram in older computers in lab Took computer to supplier, checked ram type and priced - $700 to do 17 computers.

Year 2S Internet intermittent, One CD ejecting all the time. IP address conflict Ran lead to other end of room for Internet, changed IP address and installed new CD player.

Year 3T & 3C Trouble installing Reading for Literacy Copy folder for Reading for Literacy level eg RL3 folder from Pokemon to C: drive of local computer. When copied, open folder on C: drive and look for RL3_XX file. Right click to create shortcut and then drag to desktop. Rename Reading Literacy 3 etc.
French Word not starting properly, No sound Reinstalled Office 2003, Changed sound settings which were muted, OK now
Aides Computer not starting up Video card driver fault, started OK on reset
Software Check Kid Pix Site Licence Didn't have site licence, ordered from Software Time $925 for network licence for Kid Pix and Story Book Weaver

Year 3C/M Printer not working, 2 Computers not working Installed new printer, networked it to other computers. Reseated ram on 1 computer, changed power cable on other - all working ok
Year 2S Printer not working Cable had come out of printer
Year 1S Sound not working on one computer, 2 new ones need Flash Player, one computer wouldn't accept password for Internet Checked sound setup and was muted. Installed Adobe Flash player on 2 computers form file on Pokemon. Replaced keyboard on one that wouldn't accept password.
Year 5R 2 computers not printing Reinstalled printer on both computers and now working.
Year 7B Laptop not connecting to Internet Removed Antivirus and installed SAV, checked settings, working OK
Year 7L Student's PowerPoint not opening Installed Office 2007 on one computer, opens OK with 2007
Year 2M 2 computers not working HD dead in one - to be replaced under replacement scheme. Other dead - replace this one instead of one scheduled for replacement and ram to be upgraded.
Year 2 Needs MIS ID and passwords Printed out all Year 2 MIS ID's for teachers to check, reset password for all Year 2 to a common password.
Newsletter Put Newsletter online Done
Year 6L Office document opens in a student's file Restore Normal.dot. C:\Documents and Settings\my username\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. With Word closed, delete old normal.dot. Normal.dot restores itself on restarting Word.
Year 7B Scanning program to scan documents to Word In Microsoft Office, Select Microsoft Office Tools, then Microsoft Office Document Imaging. Open program and select scan. When scanned go to Tools, Send Text to Word.
Prep U Computer not starting up Reload Windows - problems loading, do on Tuesday.
