Equipment: White Flowers
                   Food Colouring
                   Cup

Predictions:

  • We think the stem might change colour
  • Maybe the flower will grow bigger
  • The leaves and petals will change colour.

Procedure:
We cut the flowers from the bunch and poured food colouring in the cup. We stood the stem in the colouring and waited. We looked at different times during the day and saw the colour rising up the stem into the petals.

Conclusions:
The pink colouring didn't work as well as the green and blue. We thought this might be because the pink colouring was not as strong. The green colouring showed up as blue and yellow in some petals. This is because blue and yellow mix to make green! Milly wanted to see if we could make a rainbow flower. We mixed all the colours and saw green and blue petals on the flowers. Great idea!
