Rochedale State
School - Sports Premiers, 2003 |
|
In 2003, Rochedale State School
fielded many sporting teams, both girls and boys in sports such as
Cricket, Netball, Basketball, Soccer, T-Ball, Tennis and Q League. All teams
displayed a great deal of team spirit and fair play and were a credit to
our school with their efforts and behaviour. Of these teams in First
Semester, three were
fortunate and played well enough to win the Premiership for their grade.
They were - Senior and Junior Joey League and the Junior Soccer team.
In Second Semester,
once again we had 3 teams who won the Premiership for their sport. They
were Junior Girls' T-Ball, Junior Boys' Cricket and Junior Boys'
Basketball. Two teams were Runners Up in their Premiership finals, they
were the Junior Girls' Basketball and Senior Girls' Softball.
Of course these teams would
not have done so well without their marvelous coaches, both teachers and
parents whom we would like to thank very much for their time and effort.
Here's our photos of these
teams for 2003. Click each photo for a larger one that
parents might like to print out. |

Junior Cricket
The Rochedale
Junior Cricket Team played their Grand Final against MacGregor 1.
Rochedale won the toss and elected to field. Our best bowler was Max
who gained 3 for 10 off 3 overs. Lachlan, Kieren and Cory took good
catches and Nick bowled their opener with his first ball. MacGregor
set us a target of 51 runs in twelve overs. Shane and Nick opened
the batting aggressively taking the score to 21 after 4 overs. Max
and Lachlan came to the crease and Lachlan scored 3 fours off his first 3 balls,
taking the score to 33. At the end of the eighth over Lachlan retired and
the score was 48. With Sam and Ben at the crease Rochedale reached their
target in the 9th over. At this point a MacGregor fielder
retired hurt and Shane came on to the field for the opposition, taking two
sensational catches getting Sam and Ryan out and being declared the best
fielder for the opposition. That’s cricket! |

Junior Soccer
Rochedale S.S. won on
August 1st, 2003 the Mount Gravatt District Junior B Division Soccer

All our players play a fantastic game with a great level of commitment.
The defense was incredibly strong and focused, the midfield was awesome
and the attack was a constant danger to the opposite team. All our 16
players deserved to win the Grand Final after being undefeated for the
whole season.

Senior B Joey
League
The Senior B Joey League enjoyed a resounding win in their Grand Final
played at Sunnybank Rugby Union grounds.
Although they had a somewhat slow start, losing
two of their first few games, they soon rallied and won five games
