YEAR 5I and 5F PIRATE DAY:
Ahoy
all me hearties, throughout term 2, 5F and 5I have investigated various
fearsome pirates. They also read a range of children’s pirate books to
prepare themselves for writing and illustrating their own pirate story
suitable to read to grade 2 and grade 3 students. In addition, both classes
worked very hard preparing for their role in the play, “Treasure Island.”
Pirate day was held on Thursday June 22, 2006. Many parents and various
other supporters were in attendance for the presentation of the play and
rousing rendition of “The Pirate Song”. Following this was a bountiful
morning tea had by all. During middle session, both classes paraded their costumes through the Year
1 rooms and went on to share their pirate stories with 2J,2D,2C,3W,3K,3T.
Students listened with interest as year 5 students read aloud their stories
and displayed their illustrations. Shiver me timbers, the boisterous pirate
song was performed again the next day on Parade for the whole school to
see. Well done 5F and 5I!
