VISIT TO PARLIAMENT HOUSE

The month of June saw the Year Seven classes make a visit to Parliament House. As well as being greeted by Local Member, Mr Phil Reeves, the students were treated to Morning Tea at the Parliamentary Annexed. Following this, the history of the actual Parliament House was explained before we entered the building. We were fortunate enough to be able to sit in the Public Gallery of the Lower House, the Legislative Assembly, and see the Government and opposition locked in debate over the health system. We were also cheered by the whole House when it was announced that the students of Rochedale State School were visiting and in the chamber. we also visited the now disused Upper House, the Legislative Council, and saw where the Governor signs Bills which makes them laws. The day was also made more enjoyably by a tour of the City Botanic Gardens, the Goodwill Bridge and a visit to the Town Hall and the Clock Tower. Here are some photos:
