The Rochedale area has quite an interesting history.

Many thanks to Underwood News, Rochedale Markets and BP Rochedale for sponsoring our Rugby League and Soccer teams and supplying new jerseys for the players. Click photo for team photos of both our Rugby League and Soccer teams.

Our school is home to many different sorts of wildlife including koalas and our resident peacocks. Here is are some photos of a pair of tawny frog mouths and fledgling, one of the koalas and our peacocks:

High Five:
Rochedale State School is practising the High Five Strategy. It is an effective strategy to develop problem–solving strategies for our students. It involves a whole school approach that can also eradicate bullying.

It is a 5 step problem solving strategy that can be used in the classroom, in the playground and for perceived bullying incidents. Click here for more information on the "High Five".

Our Wakakirri performers showed our future students and parents their talents at Open Day on Friday, 31 July, 2009. Click the photo for some more photos of Open Day and the Wakakirri Dress Rehearsal.

In 2009, Years 2 and 4 have an hour of Chinese per week and will continue learning Chinese through to Year 7. Years 6 and 7 currently have 1.5 hours of Chinese per week. In 2009, Years 3 and 5 have 1 hour of French per week and will continue their French studies through to Year 7. Year 7 currently have 1.5 hours of French per week. We have a Music and Physical Education Specialist, 5 days a week as well as Learning Support teachers.

Our Principal is Mr Liam Smith. We have 2 Deputy Principals in our Admin team  - Mr Clint Burton and  Mrs Leigh Francis.

Rochedale State School is a candidate for the prestigious International Baccalaureate Organization and we are an accredited school for hosting International Tours.

Our students  consistently achieve above the state average results in systemic testing such as the Year 3, 5 and 7 literacy and numeracy tests. Our School Annual Reporting pages have graphs and charts of our school's result. Click here for our Mission Statement. Click here for our School Disciplinary Absences Report.

Latest results for Year 2 Net and NAPLAN Year 3,5 and 7 Tests are now available. Click here for Year 2 Net results and here for Year 3,5,7 tests.

Children also compete actively in the University of New South Wales competitions in Maths and English and achieve some of the best results in the State.

Rochedale State School has many amenities including a swimming pool with an active Swimming Club, a large oval and Assembly Hall and a brand new covered Adventure Playground for the younger pupils.

Our great swimming pool and new shade cloth cover.

We offer before and after school care programs as well as Vacation Care, for children who need this service.

On Fridays from 9.0am to 10.30am we have a Raindrops Playgroup at school for children below from 18mths and all are welcome!

Our sporting teams compete in Softball, Cricket, T-Ball, Rugby League, Tennis and Netball and perform creditably in all these sports.

Our classrooms from Prep to Year 7 are fully air-conditioned. During 2007, Year 6 and 7 rooms were extended and refurbished with interactive white boards and projectors and were being air-conditioned. Unfortunately these rooms were destroyed by fire during the September school holidays in 2007 and the classes were housed in new demountables for some time. Work has now finished on rebuilding these rooms and all of the Year 6 and 7 classes are back in their original rooms.

Our library is large and well stocked and is fully computerised to provide an excellent source of reference and reading material.

Our Library.

Our school computers include over 160 IBM compatible PC's  with our student to computer ratio being around 5:1. These computers are used regularly with many and varied programs from educational games to word processing, Internet and email throughout all our year levels. As one of the original 104 "Leading Schools" in Queensland, we are fully cabled, with every classroom having at least 4 networked computers and Internet access.

Computers in the classroom.

We also have a computer lab of 27 modern computers, all fully networked and online and with an Interactive Whiteboard, situated in our school library. These computers are used regularly to extend and enhance our children's computer access and skills.

Our school Home Page has been up and running for just on 13 years now and is expanding and we hope, improving, all the time. The colours on these pages reflect the school colours of blue and gold.

This site aims to make the resources of the Internet available to students, to provide information about our school and showcase our student's work. We hope you will enjoy our Pages and find them interesting and informative.
