Year 1 Writing

Year 1 children at Rochedale State School have made great progress with their reading and writing over the past 11 months.

For homework, each child reads a small book and then writes the book in their own words. (It's called a recount)

Here's a recount from one of the children in Year 1S from a book called "Just in Time for the King's Birthday." The story is reproduced exactly as it it was written, including spelling and punctuation.

Note that inverted commas have even been used for talking, showing how much the Year 1's have progressed in their very first year!!

Just in time for the king's birthday

A fine big cheese a farmer made for the king. Lots of animals ate the cheese until the cheese was all gone.

"Hello"! said the king. Actshlly the farmer reciggnised the king. The farmer was so upset that the king said to cheer him up "well, I will have another birthday next year."

So the next year the same farmer made the same type of cheese and took it to the king and noone smelt the cheese so the king got a full yum cheese.
