Rochedale State School is situated on the south-eastern outskirts of Brisbane in a pleasant, semi-rural area with easy access to both northern and southern highways and only 10 minutes from the city centre.

The Rochedale area has quite an interesting history.
Click here for the history of Rochedale.

Education Minister, the Hon. Rod Welford and Talitha Cummins, Ch 7, visit our school for the Year of Physical Activity. Click here for Newspaper Report.

Our school is home to many different sorts of wildlife including koalas and our resident peacocks. Here is are some photos of a pair of tawny frog mouths, one of the koalas and our peacocks:

High Five:
Rochedale State School is practising the High Five Strategy.

It is an effective strategy to develop problem–solving strategies for our students. It involves a whole school approach that can also eradicate bullying.

It is a 5 step problem solving strategy that can be used in the classroom, in the playground and for perceived bullying incidents.

Click here for more information on the "High Five".

At Rochedale State School in 2008, we have over 800 pupils in Prep to Year 7 with 33 classroom teachers. Our curriculum includes Chinese or French for Years 6 and 7 with the Year 2 children having half an hour of Chinese this year. We have a Music and Physical Education Specialist, 5 days a week as well as Learning Support teachers.

Our Principal is Mr Liam Smith. We have 2 Deputy Principals in our Admin team  - Mr Clint Burton and  Mrs Leigh Francis.

Rochedale State School is a candidate for the prestigious International Baccalaureate Organization and we are an accredited school for hosting International Tours.

Our students  consistently achieve above the state average results in systemic testing such as the Year 3, 5 and 7 literacy and numeracy tests. Our School Annual Reporting pages have graphs and charts of our school's result. Click here for our Mission Statement.

Children also compete actively in the University of New South Wales competitions in Maths and English and achieve some of the best results in the State.

Rochedale State School has many amenities including a swimming pool with an active Swimming Club, a large oval and Assembly Hall and a brand new covered Adventure Playground for the younger pupils.

Our great swimming pool and new shade cloth cover.

We offer before and after school care programs as well as Vacation Care, for children who need this service.

On Fridays from 9.0am to 10.30am we have a Playgroup at school for children below school age and all are welcome!

Our sporting teams compete in Softball, Cricket, T-Ball, Rugby League, Tennis and Netball and perform creditably in all these sports.

Our classrooms from Prep to Year 5 are fully air-conditioned. During 2007, Year 6 and 7 rooms were extended and refurbished with interactive white boards and projectors and were being air-conditioned. Unfortunately these rooms were destroyed by fire during the September school holidays and the classes are housed in new demountables for the time being. Their white boards and projectors and computers have all been replaced but the air-conditioning which had just been installed in the original building has not been replaced. Work is underway at present to rebuild this building.

Our library is large and well stocked and is fully computerised to provide an excellent source of reference and reading material.

Our school computers include over 160 IBM compatible PC's  with our student to computer ratio being around 5:1. These computers are used regularly with many and varied programs from educational games to word processing, Internet and email throughout all our year levels. As one of the original 104 "Leading Schools" in Queensland, we are fully cabled, with every classroom having at least 4 networked computers and Internet access.

Computers in the classroom.

We also have a computer lab of 21 computers, all fully networked and online, situated in our school library. These computers are used regularly to extend and enhance our children's computer access and skills and 17 were fully replaced in 2005, thanks to our hard working P&C Committee. A further 4 computers were added in 2007, bringing the number to 21, with another 6 to be added in the first few weeks of 2008.

Our school Home Page has been up and running for just on 12 years now and is expanding and we hope, improving, all the time. The colours on these pages reflect the school colours of blue and gold.

This site aims to make the resources of the Internet available to students, to provide information about our school and showcase our student's work. We hope you will enjoy our Pages and find them interesting and informative.

We are still sponsoring our World Vision child, Rosa Man. Click here to read about him. Click here to go to World Vision's page and sponsor your own child!!
