Comments: I am a 50 year old Ph.D. sitting in my office trying to discover something new about PIRATES, especially those of the Malacca Straits (Chinese, etc). Your site is delightful, please expand it to include "Pirates from Beyond the Spanish Main". I started reading about pirates when I was 12, grew up in Charleston, S.C. Would like to visit Penang Island, via train from Bangkok to Butterworth. Know anything about Chang Paou, Black Jack McKinney or Captain Avery? (it is a contest)

Comments: I am researching the apparent connection between pirates and the betrayed/exiled/fugitive Knights Templar, whose fleet of 18 ships were never found after the mass arrests on Friday the 13th of October, 1307. Recent archaelogical evidence theorises that the maritime Templars were in the New World before Columbus. I would appreciate any information you may have that would corroborate this thesis. Thanks.
