Comments: You have the best photos I have seen on the web. Many photos elsewhere
are so bad
you couldn't ID a spider if you tried. Your 5th grade classroom must be full of
very brave
students. I don't fear the spiders, just the spider bites. Fantastic web pages,
and kudos for
teaching the kids!

Comments: You have finally answered a question that has been evading me for
years. My lovely
spider in the backyard is an Argiope. As a little girl my father and I used to
feed the one
that lived in our garden. We would catch grasshoppers and feed them to it. It
was so neat to
watch them "wrap up" their dinner. We recently had one living in our azalea
bushes and
affectionately named her Stella. Stella has left behind her legacy in the form
of a lovely egg
sack that has endured the last few months. Can't wait to see her kids.

Comments: your website offered a lot of helpful information.... yet im am
still super scared. i live in a small studio appartment in NYC and just last
night i noticed a small clear kind of spider on my ceiling... my cat went crazy
of course. i however grabbed it with some napkins and let it outside my window.
(spiders really freak me out... but i cant kill even bugs lol) well then later
today i found one in my bathroom. they look kind of like the flower spider u had
posted on your site. i was wondering if u could offer any information on to
where they might have come from or how i can rid of them without extermination?
thanks again for your site - angie

looking for in
regards to spiders I have seen in and outside of my home. I now know which to be
careful of. My
friend at work saw a small fat healthy hairy black spider with a white
underside, we will be
searching this site for the details on this
spider...

Comments: Your page was a great help for my project. I'm in the 7th grade in
Alabama,USA. In
our science class, each student was given a country (I got New Zealand). Then we
had to write a
guide to 2 vertebrates and 2 invertebrates from that country. New Zealand has
some interesting
creatures!! I can't belive that I am writing to a New Zealand class..halfway
around the world.
By the way I am curious to know what 5A means. Is that your grade? Well, thanks
for all our
help. You may have helped me to earn an A!!!

Comments: My wife received a spider bite and saved the little creature, dead of
course! When
I got home, we got our microscope out to identify it. We found your website and
wouldn't you
know, you had three pictures on board from an electron microscope identifying it
perfectly as a
common house spider, eliminating any further worry. Thank you very much.

teacher that loves teaching so much that they don't just teach the curriculum
but about other fascinating topics as well!!
Well done to all of you, you should be proud!!

Comments: I am facinated by how spiders live and how spiders survive.
There is one genus or kind of spider I have seen in houses I have lived. It is
clear/transparent to tan in color and is rather small in length about 3/8". It
craws, climbs the ceiling, and it likes hanging from the ceiling by its silk. I
would really like to know the name of this genus.
