Hello Ms. Crew,
I came across your school's spider pages while surfing and saw that
I could submit spider photos. My photos were taken by me with a
scanning electron microscope.
Your kids will get a unique, up close view with these photos. They
can also visit my website at
http://www.geocities.com/sciguyjim/sem.html
3 photos are attached.
Thank you. |

7 November. 2002:
Hello Ms. Crew,
Thought I'd contribute to your school's spider page. These picture
might be interesting to your students. All 8 pictures are from
the same spider. I took them in Thailand. It's some type of a
jumping spider. In the close up picture, it's just a cropped portion
of a larger picture. Now, you can add a colour close-up to
your b/w pictures that Jim contributed. Hope you and your students
enjoy them. If you have any questions, you can email me.
Regards,
Shafak
Thanks for the lovely photos, what a colourful
little character this one is!! (Click for a larger pic) |

10 March, 2002:
On studying a neighbour's roses I wondered why a bee appeared
to be stuck in the petals of one of them. On closer inspection, we
found this beautiful white spider firmly attached to the bee, trying
to make a meal of it. I suspect it is a crab spider (flower spider)
from the shape of its abdomen. Click the photo for a larger view. |
