Day 2:
This morning when we
arrived at school the incubator looked like a popcorn machine. 9
chicks had hatched overnight in the incubator. Because they were
dry and fluffy, we could transfer them from the incubator into
the brooding area. It was really exciting to watch 2 more chicks
hatch from their eggs today. They took a very long time to peck
their way through the tough shell. When they eventually did,
they were wet, wobbly and uncoordinated. We had to wait 3 hours
until they were dry and fluffy before we could put them in the
brooding area.
Because we had so many chicks
hatch last night, the Henny Penny Hatching Program delivered 10
more eggs to us. |
