Every Wednesday and Thursday lunch hour, children at Rochedale State School can make use of the many challenging and enjoyable games provided for their use. The Challenge Room as it is called, is held in Mrs Crew's room where this is plenty of room for the many children who come along in their lunch hour.

On Wednesday, the Challenge Room is open from 12.30pm to 1.10pm for children in Years 2 to 4 and on Thursday it is open during the same times for children in Years 5 to7.

Children can choose from games such as Chess, Checkers, Backgammon, Draughts as well as several construction sets which they really enjoy.

The children were challenged to make the largest structure they could and we are going to feature it and other photos on this page from time to time.

Here's some more inventive constructions from Yea 5 children. The car is really clever!!

Here's some photos above, of our popular straw construction taken on Thursday, 20 March, 2003. We think it's the best one they've made yet.

We're having some Chess lessons so come along and join in if you're interested.

Here's some photos of the children and some of the games they enjoy playing.

The first lot of photos are from Wednesday, 19 February, 2003 and these children from Year 4 are using the Straw set which is extremely popular.

A Barrel of Monkeys and Chinese Checkers are still  popular games and the Zoob construction set produces some interesting items.

The week before the Year 5 boys made a huge construction using all the straws in the Straw set so they were challenged to do it again in the time allowed for the session. They soon had everyone working to meet the challenge as the following pictures show.

Here's the final straw model, isn't it great?? We'll add some photos of other  models over the year.

The other children from Years 5 to 7 enjoyed the Zoob construction and other games as well.

Here's some photos from the Years 2 to 4 children who built a huge straw construction as well.
On Thursday, Ms Fenwick joined our Challenge Room to challenge some of the children to a game of Chess. Unfortunately the bell beat the finish of their games, but we are planning to have some competitions after a few more weeks of practice. Come along on Thursdays and join us.
