Rochedale State School is very proud of our many sporting achievements. This month, thanks to teacher Vicki King, one of our pupils, Ashleigh Taylor, was named the Southern Star Junior Sports Star for September. Well done, Ashleigh!! Here is the article published in the Southern Star newspaper.......

Ashleigh's medal and certificate

Rochedale's Ashleigh Taylor has had a busy year on the netball court, culminating in State representation last month.

The Rochedale State School student was named in Queensland team for national championships Adelaide and was an integral member of the State side which
finished third behind Victoria and South Australia.

Ashleigh represented Metropolitan East at the State titles earlier in the month and impressed with her dynamic efforts on the court to be voted most valuable player of the series.

The Metropolitan East team finished runners-up at the Queensland Championships.

The talented 11-year-old has been voted Southern Star Brisbane Junior Sports Award for September in recognition of her achievements. The awards, sponsored by Quest Newspapers and Pauls Milk, were launched in July.

Ashleigh was presented with her award medallion and sports at a presentation night at Wynnum Rugby Leagues Club on Monday, 16 October. The Brisbane Junior Sports Star Awards are open to athletes aged from 6 to 18 years.
