| On Wednesday, 4th March,
2009, the AFLQ, governing body of Australian Football in Queensland visited Rochedale State School to launch their Smart Moves Health Program for Queensland schools. This program is aimed at implementing a range of theory and practical based activities for teachers and students to engage in while doing their daily physical activity. The AFLQ will continue to launch their Smart Moves program in partnership with their School Ambassadors through a series of In-service sessions throughout Queensland, over the next 2 years.
At the Rochedale State School launch, teachers participated in a Smart Moves workshop. During the launch, Mr Richard Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of the AFLQ, announced how the program will be benefited by students in Queensland schools. Students from 5R took part in a game with Jamie Charman and Todd Banfield, who both play for the Brisbane Lions. All the students enjoyed themselves and all had the chance to ask questions and get autographs. Richard Coote Year 5 Teacher AFL Schools Ambassador |
