Australia is a land of many contrasts. At this time last year, we were experiencing terrible bushfires which devastated many homes and lives.
This year's page is dedicated to the victims of floods in January, 1998 which have affected many areas throughout Australia.
Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to those families who lost homes and possessions in these floods. However, there are many beautiful places to see in Australia. Please click on our links to see some of our beautiful scenery.
Acrostic Poetry is written using a word as the title and each letter of the word then begins each line of the poem. Here are some Acrostic Poems Years 5A wrote about AUSTRALIA for our first Langauge Theme for 1998.
AUSTRALIA
Australia's climate
Usually quite benign,
Storms and cyclones have wreaked havoc
The length of our land,
Recent rains may break the drought
And bring relief to some, but
Lakes and rivers overflow,
Intrude into our homes
And cause heartbreak to those affected.
