Australia is a land of many contrasts. Each year when we commence school for the year, there seems to be some sort of disaster occurring in some part of Australia. In 1997, it was devastating bushfires and in 1998 and 1999, floods. This year we were lucky to get through Australia Day with no disasters anywhere. So here's this year 5's Acrostic poems about our beautiful country - AUSTRALIA

Acrostic Poetry is written using a word as the title and each letter of the word then begins each line of the poem.

Australians saw in the New Year -
Usually starry skies
Surrendered to a thousand fireworks.
The people celebrated across the land
Realising this once in life time event was
Always to be remembered.
Looking skyward,
Into this new millennium
Australia will be a force to be reckoned with.

Australians running free
Under  the hot sunny deserts
South Tasmania is paradise
Terror strikes every Australia day
Rains and floods down south
Australia is simply the best
Land is free for settlers
In Australia is simply the best
Australia stands tall

Australia has six states and territories
Under the sun we sit sizzling away
Standing in the cool water
Teachers teaching in the class room
Running all over the place
All around the places we see
Lovely as can be
Isn't it a wonder is a dream come true
Australia

Australia is a beautiful place
Underneath the sun
Star of all countries
Traditional damper
Rather nice
And don't forget the great surf!
Lovely views
India doesn't come close
Australia is the best!

Australia is my favourite country
Uncles aunties everywhere
So many things to do
Top country is Australia
Right on top of all the countries
All we do is play and play
Lots and lots of fun
I want to go there again
Always nice, always fun

Australia is the best country.
USA can not win against us.
Surrender now or we fight.
Truth holds we are the best.
Ready to do our work.
Always doing our work.
Live news reports.
International planes always on time.
A good country, a good place - Australia.

Australia is a beautiful country
Usually you can see every thing beautiful and bright
Sometimes you can imagine of all things at night
There are animals like koalas and kangaroos
Rising suns in the morning making spirits bright
As I can see Australia is a beautiful place
Like the wind blowing
It’s a beautiful country
Australia is the best

Australia is a lovely place
Under the sun we swim and have lots of fun
Stars appear by the moon light, while you are asleep in your bed
Twittering birds enjoy their life while
Rivers rush down the valley side
A farmer is hot while harvesting the wheat
Lovely rain he meets
I adore my country
Australia
Aussie people every where
Under all of the shade we have
Swim in the sunshine or under the moon
Tourists love to see our country and play in our home
Rain feeds our plants and that's what makes Australia have beautiful rainforests.
Aussies love to play, have fun and love each other
Love lives throughout Australia
It only snows a little
Australia is really a wonderful place to be.

Australia  is  beautiful  in  the dusty  afternoons.
Unusual  animals  scattering   into their  homes.
Smells  are  deeply  dusty  but   nice.
Tangy  oranges  for  breakfast.
Running  dingoes, across  the sandy  out back.
All  quiet  and  still  till  morning  breaks.
Lovely  water  flowing  down the  beautiful  stream.
wish the dingoes would  howl.
Australia   is   a lot of  fun  and  we should  leave  the  plains how  they  are.

Australia is the best country
Under the southern cross from
Scorching heat in the outback
To terrible rains in the south
Remarkable wonders
All tourists come to see
Like Uluru and the Blue Mountains
In my opinion
Australia is the best country.
